Things to do in Kota Kinabalu

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

There are tons of things to do in Kota Kinabalu but the main attraction is the majestic Mount Kinabalu—20th most prominent mountain in the world. Among its collection of wildlife is the giant flower Rafflesia and of course the super cute Orangutan.

We ate at Port View Seafood Restaurant twice when we went to waterfront. They have a nightly cultural show and their food is a must try! If you are craving for Thai Food, you can go to Mai Yai Thai Orchid Restaurant—absolutely delicious! But if you somehow get tired of Asian food, you can check out Toscani’s Wine and Dine CafĂ©.
It is pretty safe to walk around there even at night but as a precaution, you should not bring too much valuables with you whenever you decide to explore the city by foot. On your way to Mount Kinabalu, you should stop by Poring Hot springs and take the infamous Canopy walk that you often see on Malaysia’s commercial. It is very cool but I wish the other tourists weren’t shaking that hanging bridge while I hold on for dear life lol.
Lok Kawi Zoo is also a must visit. I actually went there to see the cute Clouded leopard. I was a bit disappointed because there’s only one Clouded leopard in the zoo that I saw and it’s in a small cage and it didn’t looked happy to be there.

  1. That's some pretty good scenery. I've heard a lot about Kota Kinabalu. Judging from those pictures, I can definitely see what all the hype is about.
